Delays in delivery: Latin America’s major issue in B2C e-Commerce

Consumers are demanding free, quick and more convenient delivery options for the cross-border online shopping plays in the fast growing Latin American B2C e-Commerce market.

As The Paypers presents, according to the “Global B2C E-Commerce Delivery 2014” report issued by yStats, Latin American B2C e-Commerce delivery is hindered by the delayed shipment of products.

In Brazil, there is a high demand for free shipment among consumers, although delivery delays have been regarded as inconvenient factors. The postal system accounts for the largest share of the B2C e-Commerce delivery in the local market.

In Argentina, over half of online shoppers had their online purchases delivered to their homes in 2013, while a quarter picked them up in store.

In Mexico, online shoppers cherish free shipping, as more than half are ready to add items to the shopping cart in order to qualify for free shipping, and online retailers who have offered free shipping promotions note significant increase in sales.

Given the scenario, online retailers and delivery service providers need to look for a wide range of delivery methods and even consider to establish their own logistics and delivery services in order to offer the best shipping service to the consumer.
