London, 5 November 2025 – PPRO, the leading local payments platform, has enabled Wero for CTS EVENTIM, Europe’s largest ticketing provider.
In a significant milestone for Europe’s payment landscape, CTS EVENTIM has become the first major e-commerce company in Germany to integrate the new European payment solution, Wero, into its online shop. The phased introduction marks the first time Wero is being made widely accessible to Germany’s live entertainment industry, paving the way for a seamless, secure and truly European digital payment experience for millions of customers.
In February, PPRO partnered with the European Payments Initiative (EPI) to provide customers with a comprehensive route to access Wero, the first European-born digital payment wallet. Having grown their European user base to over 45 million in just 15 months, Wero offers a trusted, mobile-first, instant account-to-account payment solution that enables transfers in under 10 seconds — and is quickly becoming the recognised alternative for consumers seeking secure, familiar and user-friendly bank-based payments.
This collaboration will see CTS EVENTIM leverage PPRO’s infrastructure to process Wero payment transactions in Germany for ticket purchases across concerts, theatre shows, and sports events.
PPRO’s platform will also support additional Wero payment flows as they are introduced in other markets across Europe.
This announcement marks the start of a progressive rollout of Wero for e-commerce across the German market. In the coming weeks, Wero will work closely with member banks, acquirers, and German merchants that have expressed their intention to integrate and activate Wero’s payment capabilities, ensuring a smooth and reliable experience across the payment ecosystem.
Motie Bring, CEO at PPRO, said: “PPRO is shaping the way Europeans pay by providing consumers with the seamless, trusted experiences they expect. Partnering with EVENTIM to enable Wero, one of Europe’s fastest-growing payment solutions, in the live entertainment sector marks an important milestone. We are committed to helping merchants and payment service providers tap into local payment preferences, empowering their customers to pay the local way.”
Sören Kuthning, Head of Department E-Commerce Finance at CTS EVENTIM, said: “At EVENTIM, the user experience is our top priority – and that includes simple, fast and secure payment processes. By adding Wero to our payment portfolio, we are integrating a new European alternative for payment transactions and offering our customers another modern, intuitive payment option.”
Martina Weimert, CEO of the European Payments Initiative (EPI), said: “EVENTIM is the first online ticketing platform to allow its customers to use Wero to purchase concert tickets to see their favourite music band, or to support their soccer team in the stadium. As an active partner, PPRO is helping drive our progress towards offering instant, secure account-to-account payments across borders – making everyday commerce more convenient for European consumers and more cost-efficient for merchants.”
