Smartphones online sales generate R$ 1.3 billion in Brazil in 2013

Data of IBOPE E-commerce reveals that smartphone sales show strong growth in Brazilian e-commerce. According to an analysis done by the institution with the 42 largest online stores in the country, the e-commerce of this volume product group generated approximately R$ 1.3 billion in 2013 in Brazil.

In total, about 1.8 million devices were commercialized last year exceeding by 48% the sales of conventional mobiles on web. The average price of handsets sold in the period was R$ 790 (≈ 330 USD), considerably higher value than the average of standard mobiles phones R$ 217 (≈ 90 USD).

Concerning the profile of consumers, IBOPE E-commerce pointed out that slightly more than half of sales generated (52%) belong to the male audience. The AB class was the one who most purchased smartphones (61%), followed by the C class (38%), with more young consumers, from 15-24 years (34%), and adults from 25-34 years (29%), being the main buyers of smartphones.
