Brazil is now the 5th largest digital audience in the world

According to “Brazil Digital Future in Focus 2014”, survey produced by ComScore which reviews of the major shifts in digital consumer behavior, Brazil surpassed Russia by reaching 68 million unique visitors and is now the 5th largest digital audience in the world.

The research points out that Brazil accounts for 40% of the 169 million internet users in Latin America. Nearly two thirds of those Brazilians (65%) have less than 35 years – 51% are male and 49% female. São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais e Rio Grande do Sul are the states with the major portion of internet users, also registering growth in the internet users base from 2013 to 2014.

Brazilians spend, on average, 29.7 hours per month on the internet – seven hours more than the average worldwide (22.7 hours) and almost eight hours more than the Latin America average (21.9 hours).

Retail is the second most relevant category on the internet, right behind entertainment. Appliance stores are the most popular online retail, followed by department stores, sport brands, apparel and books e-Commerce.

Nearly 60% of the online shoppers have less than 35 years – 29.3% have from 15 to 25 years and the others 29.2% percent 25 to 34 years. The rest of the buyers have 35-44 years (20.4)%, 45-54 (13%) or more (8%).
