Many French consumers don’t see themselves returning to their pre-Covid ways of shopping with 23% saying they expect to visit brick-and-mortar stores less, while 27% said that they would spend less time in the physical store.

In the most recent of FrencFrance’s economy dropped by 8.2% in 2020 but is forecast to grow by 5.8% in 2021 and 4.2% in 2022 according to the IMF. Inflation also rose in 2020 by 0.5% and is expected to rise by 1.1% in 2021 and by 1.2% in 2022.

A group of French companies have taken Amazon to court complaining about the contracts they have to sign to use the giant’s platform and which they state violate France’s code of commerce. A judge has ruled against Amazon’s request for a trial delay.
