Moroccan e-commerce is expanding thanks to a growing internet penetration rate – Morocco has the second highest rate in Africa, as well as a government’s e-strategy which aims to increase financial inclusion.

Moroccans do a great deal of research on products they want to buy before purchasing. 62% spend time on the internet doing research, whilst 56% rely on customer reviews. 53% prefer to see the product in person before committing to spending money.

In December 2020 the Moroccan government announced an ambitious plan to upgrade the country’s road network allocating a billion $US to enlargen some of the country’s busiest highways. This will have a positive effect on the ability of logistics companies to deliver to consumers.

Morocco’s economy is set to grow by 4.5% in 2021 after it dropped by 7% in 2020, according to the IMF, and 3.9% in 2022. Meanwhile inflation continues to rise slowly from a low of 0.2% in 2019 to a projected high of 2% in 2025.
