Octopus
The Octopus card is the local contactless travel card in Hong Kong, which can also be used at participating online and offline retailers.
The Octopus mobile app is integrated with the Faster Payment System, the local real-time interbank payment system, so customers can make funds transfers, P2P payments and top-up their Octopus cards from their bank accounts in real-time.
Octopus was launched in 1997 and there are more than 35 m cards in circulation.
