Discover how the Maltese like to shop and pay online
Three quarters of Maltese use the Internet [1]. The average Maltese online shopper spends more than one-and-a-half thousand US dollars a year with e-commerce merchants [2]. The most popular online shopping categories on the island are fashion, electronics, home furnishings, personal care products and baby products [3].
Just under 100% of all Maltese have a bank account, 52% have a credit card and 88% have an Internet connection. This high level of financial and digital inclusion, as well as excellent sea and air connections, make doing business with Malta easy. That’s equally true for cross-border sellers and merchants setting up a local operation.
